We were very lucky Jack, every evening it was like that.

I really like the top 2. Did you try a slightly shorter exposure as well, to deepen the colour? It might have made it too dark of course...

No Tom, just as my digital camera saw it on automatic, I would have liked the folk sitting on the wall to have been more black but had no idea how to achieve that.

You could have done that by angling the shot up slightly to cut out most of the wall. The camera would have darkened the image as there was more light getting to the light meter.

Tom.

A good tip Tom that I will try to remember. The shot was taken from across the road and cropped to the part that was of interest to me.

These remind me of a QI question: How many lakes are there in the Lake District?

The answer was; One. The others are 'water's, meres and tarns'.

There's only one 'lake' in Scotland as well. (lake monteith)

No charge for these pub quiz possibilities.

Thanks Denny, but, now everyone will get the answers when the question comes up on the A or A Trivia Quiz.

Thanks TDL, I am just a snapper, take lots of pics and delete the worst, sometimes the camera does what I hope for, it did this time, I am pleased.

They don't look like snaps to me :)

You are right TDL, and that's why I was pleased enough to show them on this group. I feel that I do have an ability to spot a picture but very little knowledge of the technical side of photography and although there is the capability on my wee Samsung digital to manually select the settings I use just the automatic or close up settings. I have also picked up many tips from comments on this group blog made by those that know a lot more than I do.

The digital camera has saved me a fortune because of the ability to delete whereas with film I often found that I had just a couple of acceptable pics from the whole film.

I know what you mean about digital versus film. Digital has made this hobby, that I'm thoroughly enjoying, possible.

Its good to know that folks here will give constructive critisism. I'll put a little something on me profile to encourage it :)

I've regressed to auto ! I've tried to use the settings and have way too many failures, so now I'm trying auto so I can learn from what the camera knows ;)

Have a lovely Sunday JB

Thanks TDL. Had a lovely Sunday, the weather forecast was wrong, it was just a beautiful day.

Yes there are a few very good photographers on this site that seem to know a great deal about getting a good pic, I no nothing about "f" openings of the lens, the camera seems to know it all though, just a few simple tips that if I am unable to remember them help a lot. Of course you must let them know that you are happy for them to make the comments.

I have quite a few of Windermere where the lake appears to be running down hill, I'm blaming the fact that they were taken from a boat and it wouldn't stay still.

LOL .... I almost never get a horizon straight ! My S5 had a handy grid I could switch on, but the new one assumes I can get that right :(

Very pretty, Trevor! Thanks for sharing! :)

A pleasure AL, I was particulally pleased with them. I can usually spot the scene that I want and then it's down to my camera on automatic.
