The image was captured yesterday in my garden and doesn't look like the wrens I can see on a Google search [ though a young / fledgling bird may look different from the ones shown there ]. Please click on it to enlarge and notice the unusual texture of its feathers.

Helen reckons that is a baby female Robin.
Tom.
It does have the pose of a proud robin but I was put off the scent by lack of a red breast . David.
Well Thank Helen for me; she was right first time round. David.

I think the beak makes it a robin...too short for a wren's...GBHs...XXX

Helen tends to be right about this sort of thing and I must admit it does look Robin-ish!
It is a fledgling robin ! I found an identical bird on space for nature. Many thanks to everybody for assistance in my quest. David.
Thank you ; do robins only get red breasts when beyond the fledgling stage ? Glad to have your opinion. David.

It's definitely a little sweetheart
The feathers have an unusual structure when you enlarge this image David.
| la_spice [Member] 10/06/09 @ 21:52 |
Could well be a robin as you have captured photos of adult ones in your garden.
Yes a parent bird is coming daily and the beak is not a long one as for a wren. Its simply that I thought all robins had red breasts. David.

A learning curve
I think it is probably a good image judging by other examples on the internet. It should be interesting to see how its appearance changes in the next few weeks if it stays around. David.

It's certainly a beauty - you should send a copy of the picture to "Springwatch" http://www.bbc.co.uk/springwatch/
It's been televising fleglings
Definitely a robin, they do not get adult colours straight away, I have a photo of one one my site. Rosey
Yes now I know but originally thought young had a red breast....dopey me ! Many thanks. David.
