Mobile homme do this kind of thing.
Seen in Sao Paulo, not Southampton in this instance,
Neat eh?
Summer Dog
Here in Lafayette and West Lafayette for the Art federation every year they have these large animal statues that groups buy paint and then put around town for the summer first was pigs, then frogs and now dogs. Then in the fall they are auctioned off to make money for the Arts. So here is one of the pups decorated by the newspaper. I will put more on here when I get them. I thought I put some on but I dont think they turned out as good as this
This is cub reporter
Changed the look
The small mall I walk through every morning changes thier planeters 4 or 5 times a year and this is the newest change for the summer
Something among nothing
Something else of beauty set on an empty store parking lot that changes all the time if you look

Beatiful bed of color in barren parking lot

Took this as I walked this morning to take the bus It struck me of how they put a bit of color in a drab parking area to make it feel more like a living space. In this case I think it helped
Surreal or what.
One of my better pictures of this year

Strange ethereal light at the lake tonight shortly before sunset. Almost expected to see a hand bearing a sword emerging from the water.

One of those!
Twisted.
Spotted this one on a car showroom's forecourt.
I'm thinking someone was upset.
Pictures of poppies
I finally got round to taking pictures of the poppies that are currently blooming in the fields and hedgerows. My photos don't do full justice to the beautiful natural spectacle that they provide, I was a bit disappointed with them overall, but I have chosen these three to share with you all.

Girl in Medieval dress.

Kodachrome 25.
Eastman Kodak have today announced that is to cease manufacture of Kodachrome forthwith. For those who are only used to digital, Kodachrome was THE transparancy film for 35mm cameras. Many photo editors would insist on Kr25 if using 35mm at all.
Dennypoos ...............mourns the end of an era.
I love a good carp.
Hi, I'm a newbie. This is my first post ... hope I've got it right ![]()
Fell in love with this magnificent fish at the weekend!
Isle of Muck
This is the isle of Muck with the Ann Scurr on Eigg in the background. The black thingy on the bottom right is my very low camera battery. Lots of fish here in the shallow waters. Wild horses on the beach.

Just a few snaps from my last visit to my old stomping grounds of Bournemouth.
Something to look
There use to be a road over the wabash river from Lafayette to West Lafayette they made a new road and bridge but use the old one as pedestrian bridge and this is what you see as you go over. That is the Wabash River and the train depot

Hathersage Oddities
2 wierd things from Hathersage churchyard earlier today. The first is by Little John's grave, the second the entrance to the old vicarage
Four Huts.
Some more from the Taste
The first picture is on the West Lafaytte side of the river. Or as they say The Purdue University side. As we came back across the bridge this fellow was giving us a show

Not "Spot the ball".

A few years ago, and maybe even now, newspapers had a "Spot the ball" competition. They printed a photo taken from a football match and wiped out the ball, those entering the competition had to put a cross where they thought the centre of the ball was.
In this photo you have to spot the aeroplane.
Maybe you need a little help.

Yep, an airyplane in the middle of a nursery that overlooks the Clyde Valley in Lanarkshire. It is at the Reynard nursery, http://www.reynardnursery.co.uk/CONVAIRG-CONV.htm

You get another surprise as you drive in to the car park,

A view of the controls.

They have some cracking plants on sale as well as very good prices, and they deliver them very quickly, by parachute.
Mystery Box.
Seen on the path leading to the 'Watch House', (previously posted)
Anyone any ideas?
Corn flowers
While in the past, farmers killed all "weeds" on their fields by spraying god knows what poison, you now see lots of fields with corn flowers, poppies, chamomile. Surprisingly, this means a reduction in their crop harvest of up to 20% - or so I was told. No wonder farmers don't like them. But lovely for us
Although I have to admit that this last photo was no crop field. Maybe it had been in the past?

Noctilucent clouds
Noctilucent clouds or night-shining clouds are extremely high-altitude clouds 80 km up, and can only be seen around summer solstice. Even during the middle of the night, these clouds will appear as if illuminated. Well, they are. ![]()
Even more amazing are polar mesospheric clouds (PMCs) but we won't be able to photograph those here on Earth ...

The Boat and the Sea
A traditional wooden boat docked under the warm morning sunlight ... Hmmm... I can remember the warmth.
Wwwwwwwaaaaasssspppp.....
Original....

Then I cropped it a bit...

Then a bit more...

For the more Geeky camera wise/technical amongst us if you click on any of the pics it will take you to my stream on Flikr and an explanation of why I am quite pleased with the results.....
For everyone else.....A basic explanation, the lens used cannot "zoom in" close, I was around 2 feet (sorry do not know equivalent in metric lol) So... being far away unable to zoom at a setting that focuses within millimeters was quite an achievement for me ![]()
An example of it not working is as follows....

A step back in time.
Visiting Romsey, as I did this morning was like taking a trip back in time to the fifties.
I haven't seen a window cleaner for ages, let alone one who plies his trade with an old hand cart.
Another Eccleisiastical Offering.
Looks like it could be somewhere around the Med, but its Romsey Abbey, Hants, as captured by yours truely on yet another early morning cycle jaunt. More to follow later.

The Pine Cone Problem.
...after much head scratching, I've found a use for the pine cones that litter my lawn:
I know the purists say to use straw under your strawberries to keep them off the soil and yes, you can buy mats. The opperative word here being buy. This however, kills two birds with one stone...(these being the birds that may think to feed off my fruit of course).
Family members
The newest member of the family, Orginal member my babydoll and the oldest member of the family 23years old

Lets face it, this isn't just a big monument. It trancends large. This is KING size.
Plenty of dead folk here.
and finally...
In a show of stupidity, I looked at my watch to see if the sundial was correct, (yes I know), and guess what... I thought it was telling porkiesl, until that is, I realised we were still on BST not Greenwich mean time. Dur.
Spare Tomb Lid.
I looked everywhere for the Tomb that this top belonged to but to no avail. Nice carving, what with the swags and all.

Please identify this bird for me.
The image was captured yesterday in my garden and doesn't look like the wrens I can see on a Google search [ though a young / fledgling bird may look different from the ones shown there ]. Please click on it to enlarge and notice the unusual texture of its feathers.

Great FREE Software.....
1] If you have a DSLR...
2] If you do not have a Mac!!!!!
It analyzes any folder of pics you have and gives you all the stats.
Handy if you use a few lenses or a zoom and thinking of purchasing a new one ( or 2!! )

This was taken at the end of the "Brühl'sche Terrasse" in Dresden in may 2009. The architect of the terrace in foreground, backed by a workers portrayal hanging outside the gallery.

Dummies/Manequins
To continue my fixation, here's a couple of others:
last summer
Home Sweet Home
What about living in these kinds of homes? Interested ...?
No problems with this one though.
I have no qualms about being identified with this published photograph. (cover picture for an edition of poetry).
Is that just me being pernickerty?
Wonky.
Whilst sorting out my photo files and trying to get some semblance of a system on photoshop and Flickr, I came across this old shot which caused me at the time a bit of a dilemma. The problem being the 'hackneyed' nature of the shot. This was further compounded by me putting it on the BBC's 'Buildings that made Britain' web site and the similar site on Flickr. The upshot being that it was available for the world to see on the BBC itself, channel 301, for a time. It's not representative of my stuff but it's what others must see as my oeuvre.
Having fun
I know that this picture is not perfectly focused and that's a pity, but I thought that you'd like to see it anyway.
Love this. one......

Click on the pic, it links to Flickr.......... View at full size,,,,,,,,,, See the hint of Blue in her eyes,,,,,,,,,,,Regards,Steve

Weeds or Wild Flower????

.

.
These weeds/wildflowers grow by the pavement near my house. I "borrowed" one.... I wish I had a green card instead of my blue or silver one!!! I may have "blagged" it it as being a grab shot lol!!!

A little win.
Last year I entered five photos in the Lanarkshire Photographic competition. No, I wasn't one of the main winners, but, I received an email today that says,
‘Tudor Coffee House’ - Strathaven is one of just ten photographs selected for display in the John Hastie Museum, Strathaven in support of the ‘Homecoming’ initiative. They will be needed there until the end of the summer season, end of September / early October.

So, just a little win.
One hand clock.
A one handed clock on St Nicolas church, North Stoneham, Hampshire. I don't know of any other 'one hand' clocks at all. Apparantly there isn't the mechanism for a second hand.

In this blog the photos seem to snap to the full collumn width? How do I do that in my own blog anyone know?

Sunglasses
Just noticed in my Moon picture of yesterday that the "Lady" in the Moon looks like she is wearing large 60s rock star sunglasses. She has a curly wig on and is looking up.

red stripes again
…in a day it was not so sunny. I went to the town to take pictures, and in the first place, I went to the by-side, where I took the picture with the strange defect (mentioned in my previous posting here in this group). The red stripes proved to be again:

unlike other pictures taken in some places of the town:
Waters edge
Here's another of my attempts to make something out of nothing.
Basking in the sun.
So there I am, mooching about in a churchyard, as is my wont, when a movement out of the corner of my eye catches my attention. It's a grass snake or slow worm, that I've disturbed whilst it was basking in the sun.
I can only apologise for the quality of the photograph, but they're swift buggers and keeping it in the viewfinder whilst tripping over gravestones etc was an achievement in itself.
Dennypoos's ........................day was made.
Weekend in Ayrshire.
Oh wasn't it lovely weather, went to Maidens, a very small fishing harbour in Ayrshire, just a couple of miles from the golf course at Turnberry where the open golf will be played shortly. Maidens is a fishing village at the southern end of Maidenhead Bay 2 miles north of Turnberry and 5 miles west of Maybole. The village retains an old world air of peace and tranquility and is a favourite spot for artists and camera enthusiasts. It was at Maidens that Robert the Bruce landed when he sailed from Rathlin Island.
Thrift on the rocks.

In the distance can be seen Ailsa Craig or "Paddy's Milestone" as the source of rock for the manufacture of curling stones. The harbour wall is a bit the worse for wear.

The oil seed rape field glows.

Tied up at last.

Some flowers
Remembered my camera at last
Hi to everybody...had a lovely walk along Bournemouth Beach today and through the gardens which are looking lovely at the moment...actually remembered my camera today so here's a few of the pics I took...![]()
This pic shows you the Swanage coast line in the distance...
This is the extensive rockery towards the end of the gardens...
This is the view from the pier end looking down the whole length of the beach which we walk along to Boscombe pier in the far distance...![]()
One of the beautiful flower displays that are arranged all along the main path running through the gardens...
This balloon couldn't go up today because the wind was too strong apparently but you can see it from our house when it does go up...![]()
This is the first thing you see when you enter the beach end of the gardens in Bournemouth.
Great big hugs to one and all...
Berlin nudity!
This is for everyone who enjoys a bit of nudity ...
The picture above my hotel bed (in Alt-Mahlsdorf):
There is a "Frauenbrunnen" (don't know its actual name) in the rose garden, and the bottom row of the cascade is this:
This next fountain is the famous Neptune fountain on Alexanderplatz. Look at where the man is standing - do you notice how shiny the nipple is?? I wonder why ... ![]()
And do you also notice that the man is looking at a different place? *cough*

BTW, Sue (and others?) has (have) an even better photo of the Neptune fountain's shiny nipple, hope they will post it here
You can view more Berlin photos on my Webshots homepage.
I never promised you a rose garden ...
... but here it is anyway
This is a small yet very lovely park along Leuschnerdamm, just around the corner from Oranienstrasse where Blog HQ is located.
Only today I found out that apparently the wall ran along Leuschnerdamm, marked now by tar patches in the cobblestone road. Don't have a photo of that but you can find it on Panoramio
Berlin Nights
Back from an interesting blogmeet in Berlin. Loved meeting everyone!! This is my best photo of Berlin
Will post more on my blog once I decided what to write about but in the meantime you can view more photos on my Webshots page. But don't expect all the usual Berlin photos, there are too many of those anyway ![]()
Oh, and BTW, I HATE the new editor - it won't post the actual links but only the text!!!!!!!
