Carpobrotus Edulis is of South African origin. Althought this one is naturalised. The hover fly however is Scottish.

Summer with Hope
Sunshine and Colour.
It is another miserable day here in Glasgow so I am wandering through the photos from my 2008 holiday in Corfu.

Water time
Birds...
Have been trying to get some pictures of the birds in my garden, here are some of the results...
The focus is not great but I seem to struggle a bit with my big lense and it was through a house window, which does not help.
Snake print
The wife....
Playing with bubbles
Took the photo for the pied wagtail.
But strangely the bubbles please me more.

Beautiful View....
Art for arts sake? Move it for God's sake!
This piece of pipe was abandoned in situ' almost twenty years ago when new drainage pipes were laid. It has been a blot on the landscape ever since. Looks like someone decided to beautify it, blends in well eh? ![]()

Light ball
Shadow of a humming bird
I like this pic.
It actually isn't a shadow as you can probably see, it is just that it looks that way 'cos the lens misted up due to the humidity of the Tropical house.

Inspired by Esspee
This is my 1st attempt at copying Steve's excellent drip picture. I can do better than this, but I'm interested in any views on this first effort.
Cheers, Tom.
Rose echo
Roses and shadows - Opinions on this picture please.
Orbs?
Can anyone explain the 'orbs?' it wasnt raining, no flash was used, and it was a clear day.
Power of the dead
When we took these the battery was regestering empty, and yet it took over 90 pictures. As soon as we left the cemetry the camera turned itself off, and would not turn on again untill we put in new batteries. This happend on two seperete occasions.
My View.....
I Like this, lets beg to Differ!
Do-it-yourself Titanic !
Stan Fraser seen on top of the world and who has built a model of Titanic in his garden in Inverness. His web site is www.titanicinverness.co.uk
Conophytum Praesectum- Flowering last year
Nice Eh?
Almost all shots are hand held with image stabilisation. Usingthe wide end of the zoom. You need half a black bucket as an infinty curve as the wide angle tends to pull in the back ground from unwanted places.

Lets see...........
Wood
There is something bleak about black and white.
It works really well for this kind of shot.
Last one.....
Life on the Liffey
These three guys were rowing at a furious pace up the River Liffey on Saturday evening.
Are they any good or my usual snapshot standard!!
Botanic gardens. Edinburgh.
the Tropical Palm House, was built in 1834 at a cost of £1,500. Some 28 years later the extension, or Temperate Palm House, was built by Robert Matheson with a Parliamentary grant of £6,000. The Temperate Palm House measures 15.24 m (50ft) to the top of the stonework, with each glass dome 3.35 m (11ft) giving a total height of 21.95 m (72ft).
Since over 80% of the world's flora occurs in warm temperate and tropical parts of the world, the glasshouses offer the environments that many plants require.
Paris
Yes, I am doing the old "take them in black and white and people will think you are a better photographer" trick.
Some are a little blurred as I was taking them as I was walking.
The same and yet different,
In a church
and a railway station.
We travel miles to see one and yet we walk past the other everyday.

Geese
I was stalking this pair trying to get as close to them as I could but they flew off just as I was getting ready to snap them. Luckily, I managed to get this shot just after they took off:

Cheers, Tom.
Rhubarb and Polyanthus
On the first day of spring 2009 the sun was shining and the there was not a cloud in the sky.
In my garden the rhubarb has made its annual appearance

Our walk on the heath
Hi to everybody...did remember to take my camera out with me this morning to photograph the heath and the gorse in full bloom...it was another gorgeous walk...it's about a mile and half into the heath where this particular gorse bush grows all on its lonesome but has
more flowers on it than most of the other bushes we pass on the way to it...the heath's heather and blue gorse has yet to flower so what you see here is it in winter...still beautiful...click on them to see a larger image...looks more impressive...LOL...
Great big hugs to one and all...
'twas the day
I posted about this event in Sheffield on my blog but don't think I included these pics ![]()

The Coming Of Shadows
This is another picture from my ongoing "Buildings and Light" project. It gets larger if you click on it (and on this occasion the larger size really does help).
Cheers, Tom.

I took these photos along the embankment near the London Eye.
Camelia
Could not resist posting these; taken in Our Garden in Mid-February. The single Deep Pink Camelia is still holding its own. First flower on a young plant we put in last year! Share our pleasure!
Decided to post two pics of the single flower! Couldn't decide on which one...Hope you enjoy it!
La Plagne - Snow
Shooting into the sun, snow being blown around and sparkling.

IS THIS AN AWARD WINNING PICTURE OR WHAT?
Only joking, just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Lunch time for us both today.
Plum blossom against a stark grey sky
Technically not the best picture I have ever taken, but I like the effect. This is a Copper leafed plum tree belonging to a neighbour.
Last night I was watching the Moon set, she went from this
To this as she sank low in the Western sky, she is a very dark amber crescent can you see her. No flash cos I wanted to avoid bleaching the colour.
