Mushroom selection pack

by QueeneMab @ Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 - 22:42:57

Seems like everyone is blogging mushrooms so I thought I would add this selection from the woods near here on a recent Autumn walk with Nick and Sarah

no idea what type they are, probably all toxic. Not sure if I have blogged them before

These look a bit like a seashell, quite pretty

sort of like antlers

I would definitely not want to eat any of these.

Technically, the one at the top is a 'bracket'. :)

Yes, sorry that is true and technically they are all "fungi" rather than mushrooms.

I am cheating really.

I wish I knew which mushrooms were edible and which weren't...

There are so many out there, and, frankly, man of them look utterly delicious!

The top one is certainly edible. As is the 3rd actually very good eating. I have heard them called Pork Mushroom, although as you say strictly a Fungi

I will gladly go first I am sure there is some in the grounds. Trust me I have partaken in far more risky Shrooms. ;D

Amazing things..fungi...wonder how they shape themselves into those strange formations...or is it random designs? GBHs...XXX

The only mushrooms that I recognize when out hunting is moreo's and I dont think I spelled it right but I know those are the only ones that are picked on mushroom season. But oh they are so good

I have heard that they taste good, but I would be scared to try eating some I had picked myself in case I had made an error. I have heard that it is quite easy to make a fatal mistate when picking your own.

People like my ex have done it all thier lifes know exactly what thier looking for. I went with him once he would tell me were they were I still couldnt see them. Until he bent down and picked it. And I was left wondering how I missed it. :))But here in the states it is something that most people grew up doing in the rural areas that is

Love your pix!

Did you know that fungi form the largest plant on earth? Can't remember the exact size but it was several kilometers!!
