Moon Over The Sea

by SeasideMan @ Sunday, Oct. 05, 2008 - 20:40:17

Sorry about the poor composition of this picture and the wonky horizon, but the only way I could take it was with my camera balanced on a post for 8 seconds and so I didn't have much directional control. But it does at least show how clear the night is and how bright the moon. It gets bigger if you click on it.

Cheers, Tom.

Is that tonight? I noticed a fantastic sunset myself this evening.

Yes, that was at about 7:30 tonight. The sunset was simply stunning here too.

A perfectly still night reflected in a still shot.

Indeed, no wind, and an utterly clear sky. The land and islands across the bay were completely clear and unobscured, and that is really quite unusual.

Tom.

Was it a calm before a wet and windy day, the purples in the sky bode like that?

The day started out cold and wet, but finished up clear. The colours bode a "Shepherd's delight" for tomorrow. I hope so anyway.

Was that tonight ? What time ?
I was just saying in my blog that I hadn't seen the Lady for a long time. Ask and it is given. She appeared :)

Lovely photo !

Thank you so much

:)

I took that from my balcony at approx. 7:30 when it was almost completely dark (apart from streetlights and herself). She's gone now.

WOW the view from your balcony is MAGNIFICENT !

7.30 would be 8:30 here in Stockholm. Today is sunny so chances of spotting her tonight look good.

Thanks Tom - have a great day :)

It's true, we are rather spoilt with our view. The picture on my blog today:

http://seasideman.blog.co.uk/2008/10/06/sail-me-away-on-a-rickety-raft-across-the-eec-wine-lake-4827192

was also taken from the balcony.

I hope you get to see your Lady tonight.

Cheers, Tom.

That is a lovely photo, hopefully she will be visible here tomorrow night. It is a clear sky out there now, but it was quite cloudy and overcast earlier this evening.

Thanks for sharing.

I've never seen it as still and clear as it was earlier. We had a completely unobscured sunset with a view clear across Cardigan Bay (both ways), and scarcely a ripple on the sea. As a result, it's bitterly cold outside now, where I've just being trying and failing to photograph stars.

The stars are very clear here right now. It is damn cold outside tonight though. Almost like November.

Same here, with a very wintry feel to the air. There's a mist just coming in now...

So beautiful Tom.....
Wanted to be there!!!

Thanks, Missy. For about an hour, the moon was so bright it was almost unreal. A most unusual clarity.

Thanks, David. I just tried to look at your photo archive on lochnessimages, but it appears to be down at the moment.
