Hello David

There are but mostly on the Isle of Wight and in Scotland. I'm off toWales in a week to look for Red Kites in Snowdonia. Then troll over to South Stack Cliffs on Anglesey to see if any Choughs are at home. I bet it rains all through the trip LOL

Well I have seen the 'puffers ' on the North York Moors Railway which runs from Pickering to Whitby and seemingly the more exciting journeys by express trains take place on Sundays. I might post a picture of one of the more mundanr engines. David.

Ah! I was coming to that :) My son has just moved to Denholme.
That was very considerate wasn't it. A few trips up the M1 for us I think.

According to Google Maps Pickering is 78 miles from Denholme.

It seems I was getting mixed up with the Yorkshire Dales. Never mind,I'm sure they are equally exciting LOL

Cheers
Pete

There's a steam train from Gargrave to Carlisle which seems to run on Sundays. Somewhere on my web site www.lochnessimages.com are pictures of the train and driver under the tab Yorkshire. It was a lovely Sunday morning when we visited Gargrave private station where there is a fine restaurant / cafe and BR memrobilia. David.

Yes David
I looked at them all.Took me bloomin' ages. I particularly like the stream traction engines.I used to have loads but thet couldnt be retrieved when my old laptop crashed.Needless to say I back up everything now.
Cheers

You mean those in Pickering on or around 2nd August 2008 What a lovely surprise to arrive in a town the same day as the Traction Engine Rally. They paraded through the main street all Saturday evening with loads of characters who had travelled miles to show them off. The next day was Whitby Regatta so we were very fortunate indeed. David.

PS No wonder I was so excited at the photo opportunities !
