I can see what you mean...

But .................. David

The unwritten "but" was that I've never liked Lowry. Sorry, it's just a personal taste thing. I wasn't going to say that but you twisted my arm!
Tom.
His work has grown on me; I wish I had originals and would be rich indeed. David.

Owning some would make you rich alright! I saw a couple of his actual paintings in The National Gallery a few years ago and they were far, far better than the photographs of them, as you would expect. I saw some Pollock's and Rothko's at the same time, and they were simply amazing.

Like Pollock loathe Rothko...totally overrated in my book and that goes for our son and Ray too...we sat in the chapel dedicated to some of his works in the Tate where people sat contemplating them and all three of us sat there thinking about the emporer's new clothes...HLOL...Lowry is probably much better seen rather than photographs of his work as you discovered...GBHs...XX

Good pic, David...like it very much....GBHs...XX
Its just nice to recreate matchstick figures which give a good impression of beach activities [ where the characters become annonymous ] David.

Taste is individual, innit? I preferred Rothko to pretty much everything else I saw that day. If I was lucky enough to be able to choose an artist whose pictures I'd want on my wall, it would be a toss-up between Rothko and Kandinsky.
Tom.

Ah, definitely we differ in artistic taste...don't like Kandinsky either...LOL...good thing we don't all like the same art...GBHs...XXX
I don't know either of these two for my sins David.

This is a typical Rothko:

This is a Kandinsky:

Those images don't work for me although I do like abstract work and impressionist paintings. Thanks for the two links David.

I like it as a picture David, it's the many lines that go across the picture up to the horizon that does it for me.
I want a Turner water colour.
Its great that someone appreciates the posting. Many thanx indeed David. I want a Turner too anything by him will do !

I like your picture, I can see that your people have become "matchstick men"
