SHAG

by paparazzistyle @ Monday, Jul. 07, 2008 - 20:30:06

The common cormorant or shag,
Lays its eggs in a paper bag,
The reason you will see no doubt,
Is to keep the lightning out,
But what these unobservant birds
have not noticed is that herds,
of wild bear come with buns
and steal the bags to hold the crumbs !

The pic is one of mine the poem is by Ogden Nash.

Blessed Bees !!!!

by davidjohn @ Monday, Jul. 07, 2008 - 20:14:24

Stimulated by La_Spice's excellent insect images I risked my nose by getting only two inches from these bees. If I continue I will get stung.
More of my images can be seen by clicking here. Yesterday's Knights of Royal England Pageant are quite interesting and more have yet to be posted.

by davidjohn @ Monday, Jul. 07, 2008 - 13:44:17

Medieval re-enactment in authentic dress at Urquart Castle yesterday. It was an astonishingly good presentation with participation and will be done again at Fort George next weekend [God willing with Scottish weather!].
More images of the event can be seen if you click here.

Swans

I shot this picture last week on the pond close to where I work. The swans and six cygnets were sitting on the water in the middle of pond for about 45 minutes before moving off.
