This is not a new type of duck or unusual markings on this young female mallard, this is an elastic band stuck round her head, I wasn’t able to get hold of the duck, although I didn’t think I would have it I could. But I did contact the local RSPB member and he got the RSPA involved but we still could get hold of her. Fortunately the band came off as she was grooming herself so all was ok, but it does goes to show the dangers wildlife faces when we discard rubbish the way we do.

Wildlife & Rubbish

Grrr, that makes me mad. The amount of crap on the beach here now is annoying me too. Some of the tourists seem to think that they can keep coming to this beautiful spot and drop as much rubbish as they like. But they don't seem to realise that every bit they drop makes it less beautiful and is a hazard for animals and birds.
Some people really are careless, dirty buggers.

This was taken in my local park, but when I drive down the seafront on my way to work in a morning the rubbish there is just unbelievable no attempt to use the bins provided whatsoever
I bet if you walked down these people streets and dropped rubbish in their gardens they would soon complain yet its ok for them to drop rubbish on our streets.
Rubbish is a big problem on the beaches all over the world and will continue to be so for a long time.

The other day I saw a couple sat on the seawall eating chips and drinking cans. I saw him finish his chips and throw the paper on the sand. Then his can. Then she did the same - chip papers then can. Just as I decided to walk over and have a word, they got up and left. And I agree, I bet they wouldn't like me littering their streets. I'd suggest increasing the fine for littering hugely, but then there's generally no-one to prove that they did it, so that wouldn't help.
Tis is all part of a dropping of standards. People simply don't care any more because everything is "Somebody Else's Problem".

Happy ending but a disgrace - I was brought up to take my litter home
