Sevenfields Sports Day Photos

by netbizguru @ Thursday, Jun. 19, 2008 - 20:06:32

It was my son Oscar's very first sports day last Friday, so I went along armed with my camera and camcorder to capture these precious moments. Oscar actually won most of the races he took part in, which made me very proud.

Anyway, here's a great photo of my boy in action, followed by a photo slideshow that I put together with some of the other photos that I took.

Enjoy...

my pimped pic!

And here is the photo slideshow for you to enjoy... just click on the 'Play' button.

I also edited the video footage that I took on the day and put together a rather nice music video that you can see here:

Was my Sons first one too! He is just leaving Reception to go to "BIG" school!
I never took my camera for fear of being considered "dodgy"
Big (ish) camera and all that.
Sad isn't it I should be wary of taking my camera to take a pic of my son!!!!!!
BTW The top shot is excellent!
Pin sharp!
You can almost sense the concentration!!!!
Nice one !
Regards, Steve

Hi, Steve... I'm glad you liked the photo.

I know what you mean about maybe looking a bit 'dodgy' taking photos at your son's sports day, it's a very sorry state of affairs that we are made to feel like this.

Because I was going to be taking my large digital SLR Nikon camera with a large telephoto zoom lens attached, what I did was OK it in advance with the school and asked the other parents on the day if they minded also.

The majority response from the other parents on the day was that they too felt a bit funny about bringing their cameras with them, but also thought it a bit stupid that they did. After all, it was their own kids that they wanted to photograph.

Anyway, those that had not brought their cameras because of how they thought it might make the other parents feel, were all soon pulling out their camera-phones and snapping away gladly once they saw me capturing all of the action with my camera.

I also created a photo/video file sharing folder on Shwup ( http://shwup.com ), were me and all of the other parents could privately upload, share and download all of the photos and videos that we all took on the day with each other. Shwup is great for this, as only the people that you invite (via e-mail) have access to the folder/files you store and share there.

I remember the "good old days" when we (parents) didn't worry about taking our "olympus trip" to school on Sports day, but I was such an amateur photographer that our recorded memories are a bit of a blur :(

Me too... I had very large feet for such a young lad, that doing the 'tires' proved quite difficult. But get me on a straight, flat run and I was the fastest white-kid alive.
