Oblivious ?

by davidjohn @ Sunday, May. 04, 2008 - 20:14:19

This couple beside Hadrian's Wall seem uninterested in history but enchanted with each other.

I would love to know how a city State like Rome had sufficient soldiers to quell most of continental Europe then occupy England as far north as Northumberland for 3 or 400 years.

What was there to maintain their interest for such a long period?

Walking along Hadrian's Wall.

by davidjohn @ Sunday, May. 04, 2008 - 14:22:08

The image of a well kitted out rambler taking the path across Northumberland close to the Roman Emperor's 2000 year old wall. Why did the Romans come to such a wind swept wet place ? I couldn't figure out the attraction.

I found occasion to take this pic very unexpectably and I was to far so quality isn't perfect.
But I like it, especialy those first little girls, they walk with one step. And I like that big man's poze..
