ANOTHER OLD BARN

by paparazzistyle @ Thursday, Apr. 24, 2008 - 16:27:42

Following on from a earlier post I have posted a with and without HDR comparison.

Its interesting to see how much more detail is available in the HDR version.

I am unsure if I have processed the HDR image well as this is only day two of my HDR tests.

I can see pluses and minuses to the HDR. It's true that it makes a little more detail available, for example in the shadow on the left of the building. But overall, it looks to me like the contrast in the original image has been lost and as a result interest has been lost. Some colour appears to have been washed out too.

It's an interesting test, but both Helen and I prefer the original image.

Cheers, Tom.

I think the original one has far more warmth to it.

HI David,
The definition of HDR is the same however it does give
a greater range of tones (Dynamic range) than can be captured by a single exposure giving the impression of increased
definition. Basically by making a number of exposures that are
correct for the brightest and darkest parts of any scene and all points in between the images have an increased smoothness for
want of a better word.
The images are merged via software.
