Processing in my head...

by ajnspencer @ Friday, Mar. 28, 2008 - 21:15:34

Here's a question, do you tend to "see" photos before you even take them? On my blog lately I was asked about how I'd seen/decided to snap the skeleton of a sycamore seed.

My answer was just that I'd seen it in my head, how the final image would look before I'd even bent to my viewfinder, let alone pressed the shutter.

Some of the time I find photos by looking through my viewfinder at the framing... but some of the time I see what something will look like even with some extreme processing, like this one.

I looked and saw black and white, the strange mix of classic looking houses with wheelybins and satellite dishes, bit of old, bit of new...

Down the lane

You must have the photographers eye. Too often we see the picture when we don't have the camera

That's never a problem, I've ALWAYS got one with me :D

I'm just starting out but I visualise the shot before I shoot too - it just feels natural!

Since I got my camera at the end of September it and two spare batteries live in my handbag!

It depends on the circumstances. I do like to have some idea of what I'm taking a picture of - not that it always works out, but what do you expect with cheap equipment? But my best shot so far on this site was that accidental shot of a woman running for a train. I could never have staged that one.

Lovely. I like the lines and curves and also the old and new that you mentioned. Good use of B&W too.
