i envy your location that picture is just gorgeous!!

Thanks. It's a product of being on the West coast. I am originally from Lincolnshire on the East coast, where the sun rises from the sea rather than sets into it. It's going to be raining for the next 5 days though, according to the BBC!
Cheers, Tom.

even when it rain's though the beach is still great sometimes look's wild but still great for getting the air into your lung's.
SeasideMan pro 26/03/08 @ 22:15
I completely agree. Even when there's a raging wind and the rain is lashing down I still like a walk on the beach. It's both refreshing and energizing. It certainly blows the conwebs away when it's like that too!

Great sunset...we had a golden one today...my batteries in my camera have died and so has the charger...must get a new one...big hugs...
SeasideMan pro 26/03/08 @ 22:46
Oh, isn't technology frustrating sometimes. There's something to be said for an old manual camera, but then you had to develop the film as well I suppose.

They cost an arm and a leg to keep reproducing photos, then so many were really disappointing so very grateful for digital cameras...have changed photography for me completely...just not very good at taking my camera out with me...big hugs...
SeasideMan pro 27/03/08 @ 10:14
Yes, even with the problems I think digital is still preferavle for amateurs like me. Professionals still tend to go for real film mostly, I think.

Not necessarily, I have a very close friend who's a professional photographer and he uses digital...mind you the most wonderful photos are still taken by the plate method...saw some photos of a man who uses them all the time and they were absolutely amazing...big hugs...
SeasideMan pro 27/03/08 @ 11:53
Sure, some do. The upper echelon are determinedly anti-digital though. Not surprising really. To get the same resolution as traditional film, 20 Megapixels are needed and this results in massive images and they take a measurable amount of time to store. Cameras that can take that quality cost around £5000. If all you're doing is snapping children's portraits or wedding pics, then digital is fine. But for art's sake, traditional is almost always still the choice for the Pro.

Some lovely pictures there. I note a mixture of traditional and digital. Most of the "proper" portraits were using an old-style camera and the landscapes etc. a digital.
He really has met some famous people, I'm impressed!

He's one of our oldest friends, but one we've not seen for far more than I care to remember...he was at our wedding, but we've always kept in touch...big hugs...

The top of the range camera, hassleband have a produced a digital cmaera very good it is too if you have £15,000 to spare. I'm afraid it a little out of my price range if you know what I mean.
Rabbit
Ps I still use film now and again
jenray pro http://www.jenniferhunter.co.uk 27/03/08 @ 13:47
Oh, I must have one of them! Good grief...ridiculous price...have not used my film camera now for years, and don't intend to again, but then I'm not really into photography in any serious way...just the occasional snap...see very few people now with cameras...always feel self-conscious whenever I take mine out...big hugs...

Gulp. £15,000, eh?
I think I'll pass on that!

Like any northern sunset this one is nothing special, but the photo is a beautiful, impressive work.

Nice capture

Thanks, Rabbit. I caught it about 5 minutes too late - it would have been slightly less dark if I had done.
Tom.
Lovely and moody.

Thanks, Tracy. I am really spoiled for sunsets here. The orange ones are lovely, but it's the deep pink or gold ones that are the most stunning, I think. I have quite a good collection of sunset pictures now of most imaginable shades.
Cheers, Tom.

Question Tom, how can you make your images bigger when you click on them!
SeasideMan pro 27/03/08 @ 14:59
It's one of the options when you post a picture. I choose "Medium (max. width: 500 Pixel)" from the "Item Size" menu", and "Post image with link on largest size (Pop-Up)" from the "Link Options" menu. As long as your picture has enough pixels, it will then pop up to the larger size.

I like the reflections as well as the sunset.
SeasideMan pro 28/03/08 @ 21:41
Thanks, EthelRed. The beach at low tide lends itself well to reflections because the sand is normally flat and moist, and so makes a natural mirror. I'm still learning the best places to stand to capture those reflections.
Cheers, Tom.
