Spring lamb again

by SeasideMan @ Tuesday, Mar. 25, 2008 - 16:59:29

I noticed someone had posted a lovely picture of a spring lamb, so here are three pictures of my lamb Mary, who I bottle-fed for a long time. She was within about an hour of dying when we found her, because her mother died having her.  A bottle and a warm box by the fire perked her up nicely. The first picture shows her about the same size as my rabbit, and he isn't a large rabbit. In the 2nd one, she is standing up for about the first time. They aren't good pictures, I just like the subject matter!

Tom.

What are you!

Ooh, I fee a bit wobbly!

She's a big fat sheep now and has had a lamb herself. We have 10 of them left and they are never destined for the pot.

A nice tale Tom, the pics are ok with me, they tell the story.

Thanks, Joe. Several of our sheep were bottle-fed. At one point I had twins whose mother had stopped producing milk. It was great fun feeding them both at the same time. We used to use beer bottles. 25ml at first, then 33ml, and by the end a full pint.

Cheers, Tom.

She is graceful!

She is rather more like a fluffy barrel on legs now! She's 4 now and the most plump and happy ewe you could imagine.

I love the first picture, the rabbit and lamb sizing each other up. You can almost see the thinks bubbles:

"You're not a rabbit."

"And you're not a lamb.. hmm... "

"Want to share my house ?"

"Does it have milk ?"

Fabulous photos :)

Thanks, magnox. My girlfriend Helen took those pictures but I had to share them.

Cheers, Tom.
