Try using a monopole, it quick it use, light and can double as walking stick, the only draw back is not as steady.

Thanks for suggestion but wouldnt have worked on the pier or rocky shore I think. Monopoles need soil to allow insertion of the point don't they ? David.

My homeland! Should I maybe say my soul-land,![]()
its where both my paternal grandparents are from... and where we would go every year from when I was a babe..I miss it, sadly the last few visits have been to bury relatives though
But, this is a great image, it really captures that part of a truly magical ( and deceptively big) Island
Think I will have to post a pick here of the place where my grandfathers croft was.. that mean I have to join?
